How this works
Google announced on 20 November 2025 that Quick Share, the sharing feature built into Android, could talk to AirDrop, starting with the Pixel 10 family. It has since added more Pixel models and recent phones from Samsung and a few other makers. Google’s help page says a supported phone can send to an iPhone, iPad, or macOS device.
This checker holds Google’s published list. It does not test your phone. Availability can also vary by region, carrier, and software version, so if your phone is listed and the Mac does not appear, update the phone first. The full walkthrough, including sending from the Mac to the phone, is in AirDrop from Android to Mac.
AirDrop only moves files. If what you want is a shared clipboard, login codes on the Mac, or the phone as a webcam, see what The Relay adds, or use the setup finder to see the free tool for each job.
Questions people ask
Can Android phones AirDrop to a Mac?
Some can. Since 20 November 2025 Google has made Quick Share work with AirDrop on a list of recent phones, and its help page includes macOS devices as receivers. Phones that are not on the list cannot AirDrop directly.
What does the Mac need?
AirDrop turned on and set to receive from Everyone. Google says Contacts Only is not supported. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth must be on, on both devices.
My phone is not on the list. What can I do?
NearDrop and LocalSend are free and work over your Wi-Fi network. The Quick Share QR code works on any Android phone but uploads through Google’s servers. The Relay lets you browse the phone’s storage from the Mac and drag files either way.
Where does this list come from?
It is Google’s own list of compatible devices on android.com, copied on the date shown on this page. The list changes, so check Google’s page if your phone is new.
