iPhone owners get this free. Now you do too.
“start work on one device, then switch to another nearby device and pick up where you left off”Needs both devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
Share a page from the phone and it opens in the Mac’s default browser, and the other way round.
Works with Android 8.0 or later and macOS 13 Ventura or later. Your data travels directly between your phone and your Mac over your local network.
Three steps. Then it just works.
- 1Install on both
Put The Relay on your Android phone and on your Mac. It needs Android 8.0 or later and macOS 13 Ventura or later.
- 2Scan to pair
Open it on both. Scan the QR code on your Mac with your phone. The two are now paired over your own Wi-Fi.
- 3Tap share
On the phone, tap Share on any page and choose The Relay. The page opens on your Mac in whichever browser you have set as the default.
What it will not do
- —Both devices need to be on the same local network, or in Bluetooth range. It does not work across the internet when your phone is somewhere else.
- —It hands over links. It does not carry over the state of an app, such as a half-written email, the way Apple’s Handoff does between Apple apps.
- —If you use Chrome signed in to the same Google Account on both devices, Chrome’s own “Send to your devices” is free.
People ask
How do I send a link from my Android phone to my Mac?
With The Relay, share the page from the phone and it opens in the Mac’s default browser. It works in the other direction too.
Do I have to use Chrome?
No. The page opens in the Mac’s default browser, whichever one that is.
Is this Handoff for Android?
For links, yes. Apple’s Handoff also carries the state of some apps between Apple devices. The Relay hands over web links between an Android phone and a Mac.
